Advanced Skills for Academic Success is an interactive and participative course designed to improve the academic skills and confidence of students preparing for postgraduate study at university. The course is five weeks long and requires approximately four study hours per week. The course is run by The Centre for Achievement and Performance at The University of Northampton.

This course is designed for students who wish to:

  • extend their academic skills
  • improve and futher develop their academic writing
  • gain a greater understanding of what is expected of them as they progress at university
  • learn more about how to learn, and develop greater autonomy as learners

In order to do this, the course focuses on improving four specific sets of skills, which are:

  • advanced critical thinking skills
  • advanced research skills
  • advanced referencing skills
  • advanced academic writing skills
