MSc Applied Psychology (HLST093) MSc Applied Psychology with Professional Experience (HLST141) This course runs in September only. 12 months full-time 20 months full-time with Professional Experience 24 months part-time This programme is for students who have previously studied psychology and want to further their knowledge and understanding of an applied area of psychology. Students will study general psychology at an advanced level and specialise in their choice of; educational and child psychology; counselling and clinical psychology or forensic psychology. You will be given the opportunity to develop skills beneficial to working in an applied psychology practice or research setting; through the completion of work experience. You will be able to tailor your learning to a particular field of psychology and study advanced psychological practices in your chosen specialism. The MBA Health Care Management with Professional Experience; is an extended full-time Masters programme with a substantive professional experience component. Within the professional experience modules; students have the option of undertaking an internship with a host organisation or; alternatively; campus-based professional experience. Internships are subject to a competitive application and selection process and the host organisation may include the University.Internships may be paid or unpaid; and this will depend on what is being offered and agreed with the host organisation. Students who do not wish to undertake an internship or are not successful in securing an internship will undertake campus-based professional experience; which will deliver similar learning outcomes through supervised projects and activities designed to offer students the opportunity to integrate theory with an understanding of professional practice.

Voraussetzungen: "Entry Requirements Applicants should hold the equivalent of a 2:2 undergraduate degree in Psychology. Applicants holding an equivalent professional qualifications and experience will be considered, but must have a degree in either psychology or a relevant discipline, with at least 120 credits of psychology. Applicants whose first language is not English should have an IELTS 6.5 overall, with no component lower than 5.5. Pre-sessional English is available if required. ..."

    WHAT WILL I LEARN?

    Indicative Course Content

    • Research methods in psychology;
    • ethics in psychology;
    • contemporary issues in psychology;
    • issues in professional practice.

    Students will also take specialist modules in one of the following areas:

    • educational and child psychology;
    • clinical and counselling psychology;
    • forensic psychology.

    You will also conduct an extensive piece of independent research on a topic of your choice.

    You will undertake 80 hours of work experience in an organisation related to your chosen area of practice. Please note it is the student’s responsibility to find work experience in the UK.

    Additionally, the understanding gained from these modules will be demonstrated and applied in either the University-based project (12 months full-time or 24 months part-time, on course HLST093), or the professional experience modules giving students the option of undertaking an internship with a host organisation or, alternatively, campus-based professional experience.
