This Digital Media course runs in 2016/17.
This course will enable you to explore the creative possibilities and boundaries of contemporary digital media practice. You will be working on innovative projects across a range of media and platforms, which can give you the skills to develop cutting- edge content, applications and interfaces for the digital age.
On this course you will be exploring a range of multi- media forms, practices and platforms in order to create imaginative applications of digital technology. You will learn about how audiences are engaging with digital content and how to develop work for a number of industries including: advertising, marketing, publishing, moving-image, multimedia, web, social media and ICT.
From the outset we aim to develop your technical, creative, reflective and analytical abilities, giving you a thorough grounding in research, software and design skills as well as abilities in project development to equip you for this rapidly expanding sector.

In the first year of your course you will cover the core areas of digital media practice, with modules including: Key Concepts in Media and Communication, Creative Digital Media: Context and Practice, Digital Storytelling and Media Design and our Innovative ‘Creative Hack Lab’ Project.
In year two you will focus on your creative and professional development, including opportunities to undertake work experience. You will also be able to choose from a number of option modules including: Experimental Narrative, picturing the body or short film production.
In your final year, you will enhance your research and innovation skills by working on your own Major Digital Project. Alongside this you will also develop your Professional Practice Portfolio that you will use when looking for work after graduation.
You will also have the opportunity to take part in international trips where you will be able to develop your knowledge and skills through fieldwork and group projects.HOW WILL THIS COURSE BE TAUGHT?
Your course will be based on a series of lectures, with associated practical workshops, seminar classes and skills labs. Much of your development will be through activity-led learning, with an emphasis on live projects, industry briefs, real-world working simulations, experimentation and play. In addition, you will have a personal tutor to regularly review and discuss your progress on the course.HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
An estimated percentage breakdown of how your final grade is assessed is as follows: coursework, tests, essays 20%; practical or project work 70%; presentations, posters etc.10%.

In a typical teaching week you will have up to 15 contact hours of study (classroom, online etc.) and this will break down as:
Personal tutorial/small group teaching: 1 hours of tutorials each week;
Medium group teaching: 12 hours of practical classes, workshops or seminars each week;
Large group teaching: 2 hours of lectures each week;
Personal study: 20 plus hours of studying and revising in your own time each week."
