What music do you listen to? Where do you buy it from? Online? In store? Do you follow brands on Facebook or Twitter? Do you get excited when a new product hits the market? Marketing is a subject that impacts everyone's lives and is an exciting and stimulating area to study and pursue a career in.
If you have an interest in marketing and its component disciplines such as consumer behaviour, services and retail marketing, market research, advertising, global marketing, brand and corporate communications, then this course could be for you.
This is a focused qualification that will allow you to choose the maximum number of marketing subjects and will prepare you for a successful career in marketing.
If you choose this course you will benefit from:
- current accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the opportunity to complete the CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing;
- a specialist honours degree in marketing;
- excellent teaching by experienced lecturers who are research active, publish in top national and international journals, and incorporate this into their teaching;

This is a focused marketing degree which will give you a foundation of business knowledge whilst allowing you to study the widest range of marketing subjects. The following core themes are covered:
Marketing: this is the main focus of the course and you will explore marketing research, consumer behaviour, digital marketing, contemporary marketing issues and marketing strategy as well as specialist options like global marketing, brand and corporate communications and services and retail marketing.
Advertising: you will be able to choose options such as creative advertising development and applied advertising and will be able to analyse current advertisements and create your own campaigns.
Business: you will study core subjects, such as business organisation and accounting.
Research: you will learn how to conduct both primary and secondary research and put your skills into practice by undertaking an independent and in-depth study of a marketing topic of your choice. This will form the basis of your final-year dissertation.HOW WILL THIS COURSE BE TAUGHT?
Your course will be based on a series of lectures, with associated seminars, practical workshop classes and personal tutorials. You will also be allocated your own academic personal tutor who will meet you regularly to discuss your progress and guide you on a range of matters.

An estimated percentage breakdown of how your final grade is assessed will vary each year from 75% coursework and 25% exams in the first year to 67% coursework and 33% exams in your final year.

In a typical week you will have up to 14 contact hours of teaching and this will break down as:
Personal tutorial/small group teaching: 2 hours of tutorials each week
Medium group teaching: 8 hours of practical classes, workshops or seminars each week
Large group teaching: 4 hours of lectures each week
Personal study: 22–24 hours each week reading, studying and revising in your own time"
