The programme includes economic, technical, legal, political and organisational knowledge tailored to the specific needs of the emerging renewable energy and energy efficiency markets. In addition, students gain an overview of various technologies and their applications and advantages as well as an understanding of international energy policies, support mechanisms for green energy technologies and how to use these technologies profitably in industry.

· Welche Ziele werden in diesem Kurs verfolgt?

The programme is designed to equip future leaders with modern and advanced interdisciplinary management skills necessary for executive positions in the highly globalised market of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. Possible career paths unfold both upstream and downstream of green energy value chains, be it in project finance and consultancy, manufacturing, project development and implementation, governmental entities, NGOs, utilities or grid operators. Students benefit from their fellow students from all over the world: in virtual working groups, through interdisciplinary teams exchanging know-how and experience using our learning platform, web-conference system and course forums as well as course chat rooms.

University degree (210 ECTS credits) Very good command of English (Level B2 based on the CEFR) At least two years of work or practical experience

MBA Renewables is designed for 2.5 years of part-time study, including the Masters thesis.

Example calendar of fall and spring semesters
Fall semester

1st October: Start of the fall semester
January: Due date of written assignments
March: Final examinations

Spring semester

1st April: Start of the spring semester
May/June: On-campus time in Berlin (optional)
July: Due date of written assignments
September: Final examinations


14 out of 18 modules on offer are mandatory. In the 2nd and in the 4th semester students choose one out of 4 elective modules in each case. They can make a choice out of the following modules:

  • Quality and Supply Chain Management
  • Advanced Renewable Energy Technologies
  • Energy Management and Energy Efficiency
