Mental health conditions are a lot more prevalent than people realise. However, both mental health conditions and mental health nursing are often poorly understood. Mental health nursing is a challenging, yet rewarding profession and we warmly welcome applications from well qualified candidates.



Why become a mental health nurse?



We are seeking students who can demonstrate a passion for helping others, demonstrate empathy, warmth and care coupled with the ability to collaborate within multi disciplinary teams and advocate on behalf of clients and their families / carers in a highly sensitive area of healthcare. Welche Ziele verfolgt der Kurs?

Your main skill as a mental health nurse is your ability to connect to other people and to help them to improve their overall wellbeing. The therapeutic relationships that you make with the people you support, and their families and friends are critical to helping people manage their experience of mental ill health and the stigma which can accompany it. Choosing to become a mental health nurse is rewarding it is also complex and challenging. As a career, mental health nursing is meaningful, interesting, flexible and varied and at its heart, it is about supporting people experiencing mental distress to recover and live the best lives possible.

Voraussetzungen: Interviews, entrance tests, portfolios and auditions Entry onto this course requires an interview and skills tests. Our admission team will contact you within four weeks of your UCAS application to inform you whether you have been shortlisted. If your application is successfully shortlisted, you will be invited to attend a maths and English test at either Royal Free or Hendon University's campus. Our course values practical application of skills in real life settings as a vital part of nursing training, therefore 50% of your study time is spent on placement. You will develop a detailed understanding of severe and enduring mental health conditions, which include dual diagnosis, psychoses, child and adolescent mental health and dementia.

What will you gain?
The role of a mental health nurse requires working in multi disciplinary health and social care teams to jointly examine behavioural, emotional and cognitive responses and you will develop the confidence and communication skills to work effectively in collaboration.

You will develop a holistic method to the assessment and planning of care using an evidence based approach, helping clients to manage their lives independently.
