Our new Psychology with Neuroscience degree teaches the broad approaches to modern scientific psychology, with a specific focus on neuroscience explanations of human behaviour. Students are given a thorough theoretical and methodological education in psychology and neuroscience.

The Psychology department at Middlesex University is equipped with sector leading laboratories and facilities, so graduates leave having trained in specialised research methods such as psychophysiological monitoring and electroencephalography (EEG).

Foundation Psychology


In your first year you will begin studying the foundations of both psychology and neuroscience, enhancing your understanding of the discipline by learning about data analysis, research methods, processes and concepts.

Year two deepens your knowledge with the study of biological and cognitive psychology, developmental psychology and clinical neurophysiology, while continuing to nurture your approach to research with a specific focus on ethics in psychology.

The final year of your degree gives you the opportunity to specialise in an area which will give you the best route towards your chosen career. As well as writing a dissertation on a topic of your choice, you will learn about social psychology and individual differences. In addition to this, you will have the option to choose two other areas of study from a broad range of optional modules which are most suited to your areas of interest.

What will you gain?
The degree is designed to give you a deep understanding of psychology and neuroscience, preparing you for accredited postgraduate training while also teaching you the transferrable skills necessary for a successful career in a diverse range of industries.

During your time at Middlesex you will experience working with some of the UK's most up to date and extensive facilities for studying psychology. This includes a psychophysiology laboratory, electroencephalography and transcranial magnetic stimulation equipment, large Apple Mac quipped teaching laboratories, a group work laboratory, observation laboratories, a video editing suite, and interview and testing rooms for student project work.

If you choose to, you can also spend a year in industry during your third year, working on a professional work placement which counts towards your grades, before returning to the University for your final year.
