EPO Reform 2020 - Revision of the Rules of Procedure of the Boards of Appeal (RPBA)

The new Rules of Procedure, adopted by the Administrative
Council of the European Patent Office (EPO) at its
meeting on 26 June 2019, will come into force on 1 January
2020. These concern various areas, several of which
have considerable consequences for the parties. The
course has been structured specifically to prepare you
as much as possible for the new Rules and their consequences
for your proceedings. First, the objectives of
the new Rules of Procedure as well as an overview of all
revisions will be presented. Subsequently, the new Rules
in areas of particular importance to the parties (Articles
11, 12, 13 and 15), including the concrete consequences
for the parties to the proceedings, will be addressed in
detail. This will be followed with advice for the concerned
parties on how to best prepare and adjust to the
revisions in the proceedings. The course will conclude
with a round of practical questions.
