Psychology is a highly respected A Level subject that is applicable across a wide range of professions and university courses. In order to attain this qualification you must sit three examinations, details of which can be seen below. Booking exams is the responsibility of the student. Any and all exam fees will be paid by the student directly to their chosen exam centre. On purchasing the course we will provide students with a list of recommended exam centres.
The exam specification for the AQA Psychology A Level breaks down content into 'compulsory' and 'optional'. If something is referred to as 'compulsory content' it means it will definitely feature in the exam, and if it is referred to as 'optional' it means that it may feature in the exam, or that you will be offered a choice of questions addressing different parts of the optional content.
Paper 1
Assessment details:
- 33.3% of A-level
- 96 marks
- Written exam: 2 hours
What is assessed:

Questions:
- 24 marks = Section A: multiple choice, short answer and extended writing
- 24 marks = Section B: multiple choice, short answer and extended writing
- 24 marks = Section C: multiple choice, short answer and extended writing

Paper 2
Assessment details:

Paper 3

- 33.3% of A-level

- Optional content from:
- one from option 1, (4.3.2-4.3.4)
- one from option 2, (4.3.5-4.3.7)
- one from option 3, (4.3.8-4.3.10)

- 24 marks = Section A: multiple choice, short answer and extended writing
- 24 marks = Section B: one topic from option 1, (4.3.2-4.3.4), multiple choice, short answer and extended writing
- 24 marks = Section C: one topic from option 2, (4.3.5-4.3.7), multiple choice, short answer and extended writing
- 24 marks = Section D: one topic from option 2, (4.3.8-4.3.10), multiple choice, short answer and extended writing
The course comes to you as a paper-based pack delivered by courier.
You will be given guidance through the Study Guide on the nuts and bolts of studying and submitting assignments.
Postal assignments cannot be accepted without prior permission from the tutor
The course contains a number of assignments which your tutor will mark and give you valuable feedback on. We call these Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs). You need only send the TMAs to your tutor for comment, not the self-assessment exercises which are also part of the course to help you gauge your progress.
