What will you study on the Diploma in Medical Interpreting?

The Diploma in Medical Interpreting consists of two modules:

DPSI: Foundations (15 Credits)

This module is designed for those who are new to the discipline of interpreting and translation. It is a Spring term module and runs from January to June each year.

DPSI: Medical specialisation (30 credits)

This module builds on the learning developed in the Foundation module and teaches you the skills you need to work as a medical interpreter. This module runs from October to April/May. In addition to preparing you to graduate with an undergraduate level interpreting and translation qualification, the module prepares you for the Chartered Institute of Linguists Educational Trust Diploma in Public Service Interpreting, health option.

Those with 100 hours of accredited interpreting experience, the Level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting or an academic background in languages can apply to be considered for direct entry into the Medical Specialisation module.
