Capturing Business Rules in IBM WebSphere ILOG JRules BRMS V7.1 (Self-paced)

This 3-day instructor-led course introduces business analysts to IBM WebSphere ILOG JRules Business Rule Management System (BRMS), and teaches the concepts and skills necessary to capture, author, validate, and manage business rules.

Through instructor-led presentations, product demonstrations, and hands-on lab exercises, students learn the core features of WebSphere ILOG JRules BRMS V7.1, and how to work collaboratively with business policy experts and development teams. Students receive intensive training in modeling business rule vocabulary, rule discovery, and rule authoring. A realistic case study is used throughout the course to demonstrate the principles of rule discovery and analysis.

The course begins with an overview of JRules BRMS and the modeling concepts related to business rule applications. Students work with Unified Modeling Notation (UML) to document use cases and draw class diagrams. Students also work with real-life business models, use cases, and business policies during the rule discovery and analysis labs.

After learning how to transform business policy into rules, students practice writing rules in Rule Team Server and Rule Studio. Hands-on exercises with/12/ision Validation Services enable students to run tests and validate rule changes directly in Rule Team Server. Students use Rule Team Server supporting features that simplify rule maintenance, including project versioning, baselines, project analysis, reports, and permission management for sharing rules between multiple users. They also learn how to identify governance issues and use JRules BRMS features to support rule governance.

This course is not suitable for students who have already completed the 5-day course Capturing and Authoring Business Rules in IBM WebSphere ILOG JRules BRMS V7.1 (WB308)
