Expressing yourself con?dently in an English-speaking environment is no longer a challenge, as you are able to hold a conversation on a wide range of topics both in formal and informal contexts and can understand complex texts and videos. However, you have the feeling that now is the time to strengthen this foundation to enable you to take the next step. This course combines traditional course book learning with a variety of topical videos and articles from sources such as Ted Talks, the BBC and online newspapers. We will discuss a wide range of interesting and up-to-date topics to further develop your communication skills and enhance your vocabulary. The main focus will be put on collocations, idioms and compound nouns. An array of quizzes as well as reading and listening comprehension activities will help you to get the most out of the course. At the same time grammar will not be neglected, as we will revise and build upon your knowledge and highlight typical mistakes made by advanced users of English. Grammar: noun phrases, fronting, headers and tails, concession clauses, indirect speech. Vocabulary and conversation: Fitness, fashion and looks, well-being, culinary journeys, cities, translation, customs and faux pas.

Ihre Kursleiterin: Anne Marie Fives ist in Irland aufgewachsen. Sie verfügt über mehrjährige Erfahrung als Englischdozentin u.a. Fach-Englisch an der Universität und Business English In-Company-Training. Seit 2014 arbeitet sie an der Volkshochschule Berlin Mitte.
