The course embraces the following themes, but can be altered to the requirements of the participants:
- a review of the main grammar forms
- social etiquette - introductions, greetings, small talk, good byes, entertaining customers and being entertained
- business themes - getting goods moving, forwarding agents, modes of transport, working with partners, dealing with documents, shipping goods overseas, customs, dealing with complaints
- communication skills - polite requests, polite questions, giving opinions, agreeing and disagreeing tactfully, making recommendations
- principles of effective meetings and negotiations - styles and stages of negotiations, mini meetings and negotiation role plays based on authentic case studies
- principles of effective presentations - presenting your company and services to customers
- writing skills - writing effective e-mails, giving good and bad news, filling out ex/import forms, dealing with declarations
- telephoning skills - principles of effective telephoning, preparing calls, clarifying, dealing with complaints, your telephone voice
- insigt into interculteral differences in thinking patterns and business practices around the world, concepts of time and contracts around the world
