By the end of this course you will have learned the phrases and vocabulary required to deal confidently and competenty with international guests in your hotel, resort , travel agency and/or resuarant.
Gerichtet an: The course is designed for all those working in - or planning to work in the hospitality area - hotel, resort, travel agency, restaurant and/or kitchen.

The course embraces many of the following themes, depending on the area of expertise of the participant.

  • a thorough review of the grammar forms
  • social etiquette - introductions, greetings, small talk, good byes, responding to comments ("What a pity!", "You're welcome!", "Here you are!")
  • The Restaurant - welcoming guests, serving and waiting on guests, describing the menu, writing the menu in English, wine awareness and correct handling, food hygine, describing cuts of meat, names of fish, names of fruit and vegentables, describing how to prepare dishes, dealing with complaints, naming different utensils and equipment in the restaurant ans kitchen, naming different ways of cooking
  • The Bar - describing drinks, naming various glasses and equipment, socializing and small talk
  • The Front Desk - greeting visitors, dealing with reservations, check ins/out, dealing with and explaining payment, small talk, giving advice and recommendations, giving directions, offering to do things
  • Conference Facilities - discussing rates, functions, equipment, table arrangements
  • Housekeeping - room furnishings and equipment in the hotel room and bathroom, dealing with complaints, room service
  • Hotel management - types of hotels and facilities, first aid, events and advertising, your image
  • Applying for a position in Hotel and/or Hospitality - writing your CV, where to look for open positions, writing the cover letter, the interview, what to expect
  • The Travel Agent - making and confirming reservations, making recommendations, dealing with complaints, describing tourist attractions
  • Telephoning - typical phrasiology , preparing the call, your "telephone voice", making and dealing with enquiries, reservations and confirmations
  • Writing Skills - salutations and closes, polite formulations when making requests, giving good and bad news
  • An insigt into intercultural differences and people behavour around the world
