Beschreibung

MathMods is a joint master of science's programme in Mathematical Modelling in Engineering among five European universities: L'Aquila (Italy), Barcelona (Catalonia/Spain), Gdansk (Poland), Hamburg (Germany) and Nice (France), in a word The MathMods Consortium. Our MSc is aimed at satisfying the need of experts that may be able to apply rigorous mathematical modelling and computational techniques to solve problems in all areas of engineering.

Das Beste: I am an Erasmus Mundus masters student in mathematical engineering (MATHMODS) at University of Gdansk (Poland), presently performing my Master Thesis in Institute of Computational Physics, Universität Stuttgart, Germany. for my MSc, I chose an interdisciplinary program with strong roots in engineering mathematics. The exposure to abstract mathematical subjects has provided me considerable background to explore topics like Classical Simulation, Computational Nanotechnology and DFT techniques during my master’s program. I have also acquired experimental experience in using scanning electron microscope, during my one semester stay in LMR lab (Tours-France). I have performed fatigue and fracture analysis of steel. As a Mechanical Engineer I posses commendable cleanroom experience, since I had to perform various experimental studies during my coursework. I am currently doing my Master Thesis in the field of Computational Biophysics in ICP.

Das Beste: In the Faculty of Pharmacy teachers told me about the master. The human aspect of these elite international studies gives you the opportunity to meet lots of people interested in your same interests. It also provided a very comprehensive internship program from the first semester in Barcelona.

Das Beste: The exceptional experience with international students, with varying cultures and traditions, was for me one of the richest experience in my academic career, not only academically but also personally. Having the opportunity to transmit my experience about laboratory accreditation, the day-to-day contact established by students they have proven to be a group of outstanding persons, was amazing!

Themenkreis

The FIRST YEAR is common for all students. This will guarantee an equal knowledge platform within the whole group of students. Students will spend their first semester (focused on Theory) at the University of L'Aquila (Italy) and their second semester (centred on Numerics) at the University of Hamburg (Germany).

The SECOND YEAR is dedicated to Applications - and is divided into five paths, which reflect each partner's field of excellence - as well as to the preparation of the Master's thesis. Students will spend their third and fourth semester at one of our 5 partner universities, according to the mobility scheme they will be assigned.

1st Semester: Theory (UAQ, Italy)
2nd Semester: Numerics (UHH, Germany)
3rd Semester: Applications 1 of our 5 partners
  • Mathematical models in life and social sciences (UAQ, Italy)
  • Stochastic modelling and optimization (UAB, Spain)
  • Advanced computational methods in material science (GUT, Poland)
  • Modelling and simulation of complex systems (UHH, Germany)

4th Semester: Thesis (Same as 3rd Semester)
