The intention of power electronics is the transformation of electrical energy with the help of switching elements (MOSFETs, IGBTs…). Power electronics is becoming increasingly important due to electromobility and the use of renewable energies. In the first section of the course, the focus is on the energy storage devices, switching elements and basic circuits used in power electronics, so that the participant will be able to analyze complex circuits and infer their function. This ability is trained using practical examples from electromobility. The special challenges in the automobile are also presented. Finally, current trends and new technologies are highlighted.
