I am originally from Orléans Canada – a suburb of the Nation’s Capital: Ottawa. I have two major career goals for my life: (1) to become a university professor/researcher and (2) to become the superintendent of one of Canada’s beautiful National Parks. I started my student career at Sir Sandford Fleming College in Lindsay, Ontario. I spent three years in Lindsay graduating as an Ecosystem Management Technician and as a Parks and Forest Recreation Management Technician. Following this, I spent a fourth year in Fleming at their Haliburton, Ontario campus and got a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Adventure Tourism Management. Knowing full-well that this would not be it for me as a student I then applied to the Faculty of Forestry and the Forest Environment at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. During my studies at Lakehead University I took some Finnish language courses and decided that I should put them to good use by going on exchange there.

I was on the York-CEU mobility track. York provided a strong theoretical focus on public administration and public policy, while CEU’s array of classes and rigorous attention to practical application of policy skills vastly increased my ambition for future employment. Further, the diverse student body allowed me to become familiar with systems and institutions across the world in a manner in which I never thought possible. These scholastic attributes combined with the opportunity to live in two magnificent – if diametrically different – European cities, proved to be a unique and awesome experience that I would recommend to anyone. Currently, I am working at the Center for Media and Communication Studies, where I am continuing work that I began during my studies at CEU, and have initiated a new project on Internet Freedom of Expression in coordination with an international NGO.

I was on the York-CEU mobility track. I am an islander from Jamaica. I am quite interested in sustainability, not only on an environmental point of view but also in terms of the business aspects such economic, social and environmental impacts involved in establishing companies. Aside from this I enjoy the dynamic experience of meeting different people and travelling which SELECT has definitely given me the opportunity to do. For the most part my expectations were met; however, there were some courses which were a bit basic and quite general. Additionally, I would have preferred if there were more courses that we could have done with other students who were studying similar courses instead of having a few of the tailored courses at KTH.
