KURSINHALT
This workshop will guide you through an installation (or migration) of TSM Version 6.2.x. You will have ample opportunity to look into the different possibilites of running TSM in
Power Systems with AIX environment. You will use the storage in different setups and explore the performance characteristis of different setups and we will look at online changing the environment to changing needs and how to optimize it to your needs.
We will run through the preparation and do disaster recovery of you TSM server. We will experiment the differences to using GPFS based storage as backend for TSM storage pools and TSM database to "normal" storage.

• What's new in the TSM V6 Admin Center
• Exercise - Installing the Admin Center and preparing the TSM server

Day 2:

• Preparing a "best practices" TSM environment
• Exercise
• planning for DB2 on AIX for TSM
• Exercise
• Disk pools / file pools / dedup pools planning
• Exercise
• Standard setup for default backup cycle to prepare for recovery

Day 3:

• Preparing for disaster
• Exercise
• Preparing for disaster in PowerVM virtualized environments

• Advanced considerations:
  • Clustered TSM - backuing up clusters
  • GPFS + HSM + ...
  • LAN Free adn FlashCopy integration
  • Power Systems VIO Server environments (VSCSI, vethernet, NPIV, AMS, AME)
  • Performance and Troubleshooting in virtualized envrionments
• Discuss and gather experiences with TSM in advanced scenarios
